BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. Azerbaijan's public (both domestic and external) debt amounted to 25.7 billion manat ($15.15 billion), which is equivalent to 19.6 percent of the forecasted 2025 Gross Domestic Product (GDP), estimated at 130.6 billion manat ($77.09 billion), as of July 1 this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Finance indicates that as much as 8.5 billion manat ($5 billion), or 33.2 percent of the total public debt, accounted for external debt, while 17.2 billion manat ($10.14 billion), or 66.8 percent, domestic debt.
"As of July 1, 2025, the upper limit set in the strategy to maintain interest rate risk at an acceptable level - specifically, that variable-interest debt should not exceed 50 percent of the total debt portfolio - has been adhered to. Variable-interest liabilities accounted for 16.4 percent of the total debt portfolio," the information noted.
