By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

About 2,47 million tons of products were exported from Iran’s northeastern South Khorasan Province during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Mohammad Ali Khashi, Director General of South Khorasan Customs Department, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Khashi, the goods exported via the provincial customs exceeded $595 million in value.

Khashi added that cement, bird food, glaze and ceramics, diesel, light and heavy hydrocarbon, vegetables and salt were mainly exported during the mentioned period.

"These products were mainly exported to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkmenistan," he said.

The provincial exports dropped by 27 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of weight, compared to the same period last year.

Drawing attention to the reason for the decline in product exports, Khashi stated that bans have been put for the export of 4 products from Mahirud Customs.

"This year, Afghanistan has twice banned the export of cement, iron, oil products and ceramics through the Mahirud Customs of Iran’s South Khorasan Province," he said.

Khashi said there are currently no bans in place, and that there are no problems arising with exports.

Iran's South Khorasan Province operates the Mahirud and Birjand customs and Mahirud border market.
