TEHRAN, Iran, May 30. The offering of cars in the commodity exchange has been a top issue under discussion of the Iranian Parliament last year but the issue was put aside when the new president took office, said Iranian MP Hojjatullah Firouzi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The plan to organize the automotive industry was approved by the Industries Committee of the parliament last year.

Firouzi said that the new administration sought to organize the automotive industry through other plans, rather than offering cars via commodity exchange.

The MP referred to the parliamentary law to lift the ban on car imports, adding that the purpose of offering cars via the commodity exchange is to prevent corruption by balancing the price of cars in the transparent capital market.

With the sale of cars in the commodity exchange, car pricing is not done by the Consumers and Producers Protection Organization and the Competition Council, rather, prices are determined by supply and demand, he said.
