Tajikistan's Committee for State Reserves and Azerbaijani Government have reached an agreement on the purchase of fuel and lubricants, Tajikistan's ambassador to Azerbaijan Zokir Vazirov told Trend.
"The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has already given its consent for it, and supplies of fuel and lubricants will start in the coming days," the diplomat said.
According to the Customs Service of Tajikistan, in 2009 Tajikistan imported 634,200 tons of fuel and lubricants, 87 percent of which was imported from Russia, 2.5 percent from Turkmenistan and the rest from other countries.
From January to April 2010 the country imported 191,200 tons of oil products, 97 percent of which was imported from Russia, 0.6 percent from Turkmenistan (0.6 percent) and the rest from other countries.
In Azerbaijan, oil products are produced on the basis of two Baku oil refineries owned by SOCAR. In January-November 2010, Azerbaijan produced more than 4.66 million tons of oil products including motor gasoline, diesel fuel, furnace oil, LPG, bitumen and coke.
