Small power generation units of up to 3MW output will be installed in Iran's main residential, recreational and trade complexes as of next year, ISNA quoted an official with MAPNA Group as saying.
Small gas-fired power stations with a 250KW to 3MW output will be installed as the relevant technology is gained next year, Mohammad-Nabi Faraji added.
Iran's national power generation capacity will be boosted by around four gig watts (GW) by the third calendar month of Tir (June 21-July 21) next year, the managing director of Iran Power Development Company said in October.
"Twenty power plants with a total output of 9.5GW are projected to be built. Some 40 trillion rials ($3.26 billion) will be allocated to the projects in the first phase," Majid Salehi said. These are scheduled to be completed by March 2015, he noted.
Energy Minister Majid Namjou has said Iran's installed power generation capacity is currently about 67GW.
The Energy Ministry plans to increase electricity generation capacity by 5GW this calendar year.
Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
