BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Cargo traffic through the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA) totaled nearly 33.29 million tons from January through August 2022, up by 22.65 percent or 6.148 million tons against the same period of 2021, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.
During this period, the cargo turnover through the mentioned direction exceeded 8.33 billion ton-kilometers, which was 30 percent more than in the first eight months of 2021.
Meantime, freight transport by road accounted for over 17.895 million tons (53.7 percent), freight transport by rail – over 10.975 million tons (33 percent), and freight transport by sea – over 4.42 million tons (13.3 percent) out of Azerbaijan's overall cargo traffic volume.
Out of the total cargo transportation, more than 9.13 million tons (27.4 percent) came at transit cargo movement.
