Tajikistan's half-year trade turnover grows

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 7. Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover reached $4.414 billion in the first half of 2024, which is a 29.3- percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the country's Statistical Agency, exports from Tajikistan amounted to $997.8 million, up 47.1 percent or $319.3 million compared to January through June 2023.

The country’s main export destinations were Switzerland (29.9 percent of the total exports), China (18.7 percent), Kazakhstan (11.9 percent), Türkiye (11.1 percent), Uzbekistan (8.1 percent), Russia (5.9 percent), Iran (5.5 percent), Afghanistan (3.9 percent), and the UAE (1 percent).

Imports into Tajikistan reached $3.416 billion, which is an increase of 24.9 percent, or $680.1 million, compared to the first half of 2023.

Major import sources included Russia (26.6 percent), China (20.2 percent), Kazakhstan (16.1 percent), Uzbekistan (5.6 percent), Iran (3.3 percent), Türkiye (2.9 percent), Belarus (2.4 percent), South Korea (1.6 percent), Japan and Germany (1.3 percent each), and the US (1.1 percent).
