DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 11. Tajikistan's Khatlon region welcomed 272,454 tourists from January through April 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's executive authority shows that this marks an increase of over two times, or 133,548 visitors, compared to the same period in 2024. Among the total number of registered travelers, 248,591 were domestic tourists, while 23,863 were foreign nationals.
Representatives from the tourism sector attribute the steady growth in visitor numbers to improvements in the region's tourism infrastructure, as well as active efforts to promote its cultural and historical heritage.
Khatlon is home to 933 historical, cultural, archaeological, and monumental sites. The region boasts 121 hotels, 139 natural tourist zones, 251 resorts and sanatoriums, 142 restaurants and cafes, 45 museums, and 19 travel agencies.
Meanwhile, the area features 128 tea houses, 371 ATMs providing banking services, 50 hostels and guesthouses, 240 roadside toilets, 68 souvenir shops, and 115 places of pilgrimage. The region also offers 45 parks and squares for recreation, 80 tourist signs, and 26 information and tourist centers.
