BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Iran’s private sector has shown remarkable growth in car production, with various types of vehicles increasing by 14.8 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025) compared to the same month last year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade of Iran indicates that 12,449 vehicles were produced by the private sector in the first month of the new Iranian year. This is a substantial rise from last year’s figure of around 10,847 cars.
Of the total production, over 11,876 passenger cars and 310 trucks were manufactured. In total, about 60,470 vehicles of various types were produced across Iran during the first month, showing a slight 2 percent decrease compared to the same period last year, when approximately 51,708 vehicles were produced.
Passenger cars accounted for the majority of production, with 56,191 units manufactured, while the least produced were minibuses, with only about 28 units.
Additionally, the production of pickup trucks saw a significant decline of around 57 percent, with only 3,197 units produced, compared to 7,454 last year. However, the production of heavy-duty vehicles rose by 24 percent, with about 900 units manufactured during this period.
