Egypt applied to Saudi Arabia to impose pressure on President of the Palestinian Autonomy Mahmoud Abbas to accept the Egyptian initiative and solve dispute problems between political parties Fatah and Hamas, the Israeli Jerusalem Post newspaper reported with reference to officials in Ramallah.

King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz urged the Palestinian authorities to accept to the Egyptian initiative at the meeting with Abbas in Riyadh on April 12.

The initiative envisages forming a supreme committee to solve a problem between the Palestinian groupings which will be a ground to form the national Palestinian state on the Western Bank and Gaza Strip. However, Abbas's government refused the initiative, as it does not make Hamas leaders recognize Israel and international documents signed between the Israeli government and Palestine Liberation Organization.

Moreover, Cairo demands Hamas's participation in economic restoring of Gaza, but the Palestinian head said that only the authorities in Ramallah must be occupied with this issue.

The negotiations of the Palestinian parties which have been at enmity since 2007 should finish in late April in Cairo where a program of establishing the national government will be announced.
