BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The number of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 52,500 people, or 3.08 percent, as of the first of August 2024 compared to the same period of 2023.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that the total number of hired workers as of the first of August 2024 amounted to 1.759 million people, including 881,700 people in the state sector of the economy and 887,300 people in the private sector.
Out of the total number of employed citizens, 18.8 percent work in education, 18.3 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.3 percent in health care and social services.

To note, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan from January through July 2024 increased by 8.3 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 1,002 manat ($589.4).
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
