Tatneft initiates geological surveys in Caspian region of Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. The Kazakh national company "KazMunayGas" and the Russian "Tatneft" plan to start geological exploration work in November in the Atyrau and Mangystau regions of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of "KazMunayGas," met with Nail Maganov, General Director of the oil company "Tatneft."

During their meeting, they discussed the progress of preparations for drilling the first exploration well at a depth of 5,500 meters in the Karaton Podsolevoy area. Installation of the drilling equipment is currently in progress, with drilling scheduled to commence in November 2024.

The Karaton Podsolevoy area is located in the Atyrau and Mangistau regions, close to the "Embamunaigas" operational fields. The two sides also explored potential collaboration in the oil and gas chemistry sector.

On February 21, 2024, in Kazan, "KazMunayGas" and "Tatneft" signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement, a Shareholders' Agreement, and a Financing Agreement for the "Karaton Podsolevoy" project.

Tatneft is a Russian oil company, officially named Public Joint Stock Company "Tatneft" after V.D. Shashina. Its headquarters are located in Almetyevsk, Tatarstan, with major assets in the Republic of Tatarstan and operations in both domestic and international markets. The company ranks fifth in Russia for oil production.
