BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. The transportation sector in Azerbaijan has seen a bit of a silver lining, with cargo transport inching up by 1.1 percent and passenger transport taking a giant leap with a remarkable 21 percent jump from January through November 2024 compared to the same stretch in 2023.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee indicate that relevant business entities transported 16.9 million tons of cargo and 7.6 million passengers during 11 months of this year.
On average, 375 railcars were loaded and 437 unloaded per day. On a daily basis, 17,400 tons of freight were transported northward, 4,200 tons westward, and 700 tons southward.
