BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. The average monthly nominal salary of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 8 percent, reaching 996.8 manat ($586.3) in 2024.

The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistical Department shows that Azerbaijan’s economy had 1.8 million employed workers on December 1, 2024. Of these, 884,400 were employed in the public sector, while 890,900 worked in the private sector.

Data reveals that 18.5 percent of hired workers were engaged in trade and vehicle repairs, another 18.5 percent - education, 12.9 percent - industry, 8.5 percent - healthcare and social services, 6.7 percent - construction, 6.4 percent - public administration, defense, and social protection, 4.2 percent - transport and warehousing, 3.9 percent - professional, scientific, and technical activities, 3.2 percent - agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, 2.2 percent - financial and insurance services, and the remaining 15 percent - other sectors of the economy.

The average monthly nominal wage was highest in the mining industry, financial and insurance services, transport and warehousing, information and communications, and scientific and technical fields.
