ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 6. In 2024, emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere by Kazakhstan Railways decreased by 2.2 percent, while industrial and consumer waste was reduced by 1.5 percent, Trend reports via Kazakhstan Railways.
As part of the waste segregation project, over 102,000 kilograms of materials were recycled, including paper, plastic, used car tires, and batteries. More than 34,800 kilograms of battery waste, 12,400 kilograms of used office equipment, and around 12,000 kilograms of car tires were sent for disposal.
Additionally, more than 100,000 plastic bottles and aluminum cans were collected for recycling and disposal through reverse vending machines installed at railway stations and in the administrative building of Kazakhstan Railways.
