BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1.​ The voluntary vehicle insurance premiums and payouts in Azerbaijan have really hit the ground running, showing a remarkable upward mark.

Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank’s report indicates that insurance premiums for vehicles from January through February 2025 amounted to over 11.6 million manat ($6.8 million), with insurance payouts totaling 4.7 million manat ($2.7 million).

This represents an increase of more than 2.4 million manat ($1.4 million), or 26.4 percent, in premiums, and an increase of 1.4 million manat ($823.5), or around 41 percent, in payouts compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, insurance companies in Azerbaijan from January through February 2024 had collected premiums of 9.2 million manat ($5.4 million) and paid out 3.3 million manat ($1.9 million) in claims.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan regulates and supervises the insurance sector under Article 95 of the "Insurance Activity" Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Currently, 16 insurance companies are operating in Azerbaijan.
