BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. According to OPEC’s latest outlook, US liquids production dropped by 0.8 million barrels per day (mb/d) in January 2025, averaging 21.4 mb/d, Trend reports.

Despite the month-on-month decline, output was still 1.3 mb/d higher year-on-year.

Crude oil and condensate production fell by 0.3 mb/d from December’s peak to 13.1 mb/d, though this marked a 0.6 mb/d increase compared to January 2024. Regional output fell mainly along the US Gulf Coast due to lower production in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and offshore Gulf of Mexico platforms. Natural gas liquids (NGLs) also declined by 0.4 mb/d to 6.7 mb/d.

Looking ahead, OPEC projects US liquids output to grow by 0.4 mb/d in 2025, reaching 22.2 mb/d. Crude and condensate production is expected to rise to 13.4 mb/d, driven by improved well productivity and steady drilling activity. NGLs are forecast to grow to 7.1 mb/d, while non-conventional liquids, mainly ethanol, are set to reach 1.6 mb/d.

By 2026, US production is projected to reach 22.5 mb/d, supported by gains in efficiency, tight crude output, and modest increases across all segments.
