BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. Global liquid fuels consumption is expected to rise by 1.1 million barrels per day (b/d) in both 2025 and 2026, driven largely by non-OECD countries, according to the latest outlook from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Trend reports.
The report indicates that non-OECD consumption will increase by 1.2 million b/d in 2025 and 1.0 million b/d in 2026, while demand in OECD countries is projected to decline slightly by 0.1 million b/d in 2025 before rebounding by the same amount in 2026.
Asia is expected to account for most of the non-OECD growth, with India and China together contributing more than 0.4 million b/d of additional consumption by 2026 compared with 2024.
The EIA notes that its forecast for China reflects only final consumption and does not include changes in oil inventories.
