Iran's pistachio exports have decreased significantly during first three months of the current solar year(started on March 21) due to low price of pistachio in international markets and reduction of this crop in depots, head of the Exports Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Asadollah Asgaroladi said, ISNA news agency reported.
"Depots are almost empty and there is not pistachio to sell," he said, adding that, this fall would continue till September, which new harvest will be carried out.
"After September exports volume would increase if the international price of pistachio be competitive," he added.
Exported pistachio's cost stands at 280,000 rials (some $11.3 based on official rate of 24,785 rials per each USD) per each kilograms, Asgaroladi said.
He added that, Iran has exported some 19,000 tons of pistachio during the first three months of the current solar year (started on March 21), while pistachio exports volume was 28,000 tons during the same period last year.
Meanwhile according to the Iranian Customs Administrations report, pistachio exports reached 12,500 tons in weight and $121.6 million in value during this period.
UAE, Kazakhstan, Russia, Germany and Iraq were the main target markets of Iran's open in-shell pistachio during this period.
Mohsen Jalalpour, the head of the association Iranian pistachio farmers, announced on March 18 that the country exported 140,000 tons of pistachio in the previous year, 40 percent more than its preceding year.
According to Jalalpour, the country totally produced 183,000 tons of pistachio in the previous year, which is 15 percent more than its preceding year.
