The production of buses in Uzbekistan increased 2.1 times in the first two months of this year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
Uzbekistan produced industrial products by almost $5.24 billion in January-February 2019, which is 7.2 percent higher than the same period last year.
In the total industry, the share of enterprises for the production, repair, assembly of machinery and equipment, production of cars, trailers, semi-trailers and other finished products reached 17.1 percent (in January-February 2018 an increase was by 21.6 percent).
State Statistics Committee notes that in January-February 2019, 38,642 cars were produced, which is 51.3 percent more than last year’s figures for the same period. The production of trucks increased by 2.6 times up to 782 units and 194 buses were produced, which is 100 units more compared to the same period in 2018.
The production of automobile engines in January-February 2019 increased by 64 percent and amounted to 32,642 units. However, the production of tractors decreased from 208 to 67 units.
The share of metallurgical industry in the total volume was 13.4 percent (+7.9 percent), enterprises for the production of textile, clothing and leather products - 13.3 percent (+1.5 percent), enterprises for the production of food, chemical products, rubber and plastic products - 7.9 percent (+1.6 percent). The production of cigarettes increased from 1517 to 1715 million units, possibly influenced by the expansion of the export market for Uzbek tobacco products.
At the same time, the report shows that there is a sharp decline in the production of cotton (from 249,100 to 186,800 tons) and vegetable oil (from 41,900 to 35,800 tons).
The leader in industrial production growth in the two months of this year was the Andijan region (an increase of 23.8 percent), followed by Samarkand (17.2 percent), Khorezm (14.3 percent), Tashkent (7.3 percent) and Namangan (6.6 percent) regions.
