Uzbekistan is considering the possibility of purchasing fertilizers from the Russian chemical holding PhosAgro, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
The issue was discussed at the meeting of Energy Minister of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov and Deputy General Director of Sales and Marketing of PhosAgro Sergey Pronin.
According to the ministry, the parties discussed issues of establishing long-term cooperation in organizing the supply of Russian fertilizers for the needs of Uzbekistan’s agriculture.
"A member of the management of the Russian chemical holding confirmed PhosAgro’s willingness to cooperate closely in this direction,” the Ministry of Energy reported.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached on the creation of a joint working group for a detailed study of the upcoming cooperation and arranging a visit of working delegation of the Russian company to Uzbekistan in July 2019.
The parties also considered prospects for joint production of complex fertilizers.
PhosAgro is one of the world's leading manufacturers of phosphorus-containing fertilizers. Its main activity is the production of fertilizers from high grade (with a P2O5 content of 39 percent or more) of phosphate raw materials - apatite concentrate, as well as feed phosphates, nitrogen fertilizers and ammonia.
