BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. Of the total volume of urea produced in Azerbaijan in 2023, one-third was exported to EU countries, Trend reports via Eurostat.
"EU countries purchased 148,800 tons of urea from Azerbaijan out of the total production volume of SOCAR Carbamide of 454,000 tons," the information reads.
The largest customer of Azerbaijani urea in the EU was Romania (99,100 tons).
Azerbaijan exported a total of 400,000 tons of urea to different countries, and about 54,000 tons went to the domestic market.
The daily capacity of the SOCAR Carbamide plant is 2,000 tons of urea and 1,200 tons of ammonia.
This nitrogenous fertilizer is demanded in agriculture to increase the yield of horticultural products, grain legumes, etc.
