BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) strives to achieve net zero emissions by 2045, the Senior Vice President for International Gas and LNG of ADNOC Abdulla Alshamsi said at the plenary session “The Latest Trends in the Global Energy Markets and Prospects for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” within the framework of the international conference and exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024” (OGT 2024) in Ashgabat today, Trend reports.
"We plan to reduce emission intensity by 25 percent by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2045," senior vice president noted.
Shamsi also discussed the company’s key projects.
"In 2024, we announced the implementation of physical gas projects around the world. In Egypt, we have announced a joint venture with bp to enhance the country's energy security. In Azerbaijan, we are collaborating with SOCAR and TotalEnergies on the development of the Absheron gas field.
In the US, we have secured participation in the Rio Grande LNG project for the next decade. In Mozambique, we have obtained a 10 percent stake in the exploration zone of the Rahuma basin, which holds significant potential for the country and its people. These projects continue our long history of successful gas initiatives since the 1970s. Over this time, we have become a global leader in developing sour gas resources," he stated.
Shamsi highlighted that the Shah plant in Abu Dhabi is the world's largest operation for processing ultra-sour gas, processing over one billion cubic meters of gas per day and producing more than four million tons of sulfur annually. This expertise, he said, can be beneficial for partners with sour gas assets.
ADNOC, as Shamsi emphasized, supports partners on the path to sustainable development through initiatives such as the Decarbonization Charter for the oil and gas sector and the Oil and Gas Industry Efficiency Partnership 2.0.
"These initiatives demonstrate our successful collaboration. Through partnerships, we can strengthen the strong ties between the UAE and Turkmenistan, including cooperation with Turkmen gas and Türkmennebit, as well as the cultural connections that unite us," the senior vice president concluded.
To note, the OGT 2024 forum is an international platform that brings together leading national and international oil and gas companies, as well as industry experts and financial institutions. The major objective of the event is to strengthen the dialog on sustainable development of the energy sector and attract investments into the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. The forum will discuss the prospects of field development, modernization of processing facilities, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies and environmental aspects of hydrocarbon production.
