ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 10. As of early July 2024, Turkmenistan has 40,137 point-of-sale (POS) terminals, Trend reports.
Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan shows that Ashgabat has the most POS terminals with 13,094, followed by Lebap with 6,834, and Mary with 6,484.
Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank leads with the highest number of POS terminals at 8,208 units. The Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank follows with 7,663 POS terminals, and Halkbank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank is third with 6,899 POS terminals.
Over the past eight years, Turkmenistan's POS terminal count has increased more than eightfold. On January 1, 2016, the country had 5,223 POS terminals; by January 1, 2024, the total had risen to 42,131.
