BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 28. A total of 330,000 foreign citizens have been registered in Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 Deputy Minister of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan Jazgul Kiyizbaeva said, Trend reports.

According to her, this is an increase compared to the same period in 2022 when 297,000 citizens were registered.

Kiyizbaeva said that the majority of the registered citizens are labor migrants, students, and tourists from both distant and nearby countries.

Maksat Usubaliev, an advisor to the President of the Tourism Development Support Fund in Kyrgyzstan, added that their department also witnesses a significant inflow of alpinists and other travelers.

As the Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of the Kyrgyzstan Kyyal Kenzhematova said earlier, over 14 million people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2022 and about 7.5 million of visitors were tourists.

"Near half of them were ecotourists. COVID-19 has forced many people to reconsider their views on life, so they began to plan their travels from a different angle, preferring unity with nature," Kenzhematova said.
