BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. The production of copper cathode in Iran increased by 5 percent, i.e., 5,000 tons, during the four months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), the statement of Iran's National Company of Copper Industry said, Trend reports.
Iran's National Copper Industries Company produced 100,000 tons of copper cathode in four months. However, during the same period last year, the production of copper cathode amounted to 95,000 tons.
Furthermore, the National Company of Copper Industries of Iran produced 98 million tons of copper mineral in 4 months. Compared to the same period last year, this increased by 13 percent, i.e., 11 million tons. Last year, the company produced 87 million tons of copper.
The National Copper Industry Company has dug more than 164,000 meters in four months. This is 35 percent, which is 41,000 meters more than in the same period last year. During the same period last year, 123,000 meters of excavation work were carried out.
The company produced more than 449,000 tons of copper concentrate in four months.
To note, according to the National Company of Copper Industry of Iran, copper reserves in the country amount to 19 billion tons. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
