Iran launches solar power plants in nation's Kerman Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. Two solar power plants with a capacity of 30 megawatts have been put into operation in the Shahr-e Babak district of Kerman Province in southeastern Iran, Trend reports.

One of these stations has a capacity of 25 megawatts and the other 5 megawatts. These stations were built and put into operation by the private sector.

Along with this, the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts has begun. It is expected that 21.6 trillion rials (about $4.75 million) will be spent in this regard.

Moreover, the foundation of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 183 megawatts has been laid in the Shahr-e Babak district. Once this plant becomes operational, its production capacity can be increased to 500 megawatts.

To note, the production potential of renewable energy power plants in Iran is 1,347 megawatts. About 835 megawatts of it belong to solar power plants.
