BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. The production of passenger cars by Iran's Saipa Automobile Manufacturing Company decreased by 2.8 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), the report of Codal, a company operating under Iran's Securities and Exchange Organization (codal.ir) said, Trend reports.
According to the report, Saipa Automobile Manufacturing Company produced 226,409 passenger cars during the eight months. However, during the same period last year, the company's passenger car production totaled 233,131 units.
The report noted that the company sold 214,205 passenger cars during the eight months. The company's sales decreased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year. During the same period last year, the company marketed 222,461 passenger cars.
Saipa Automobile Manufacturing Company produced 135,636 “X200” passenger cars (Tiba, Quick and Saina), 46,954 pickup trucks, 33,325 Shahin, and 10,494 other passenger cars during the eight months.
To note, during the past eight months, Iran's leading trio of state-owned automobile manufacturers rolled out a grand total of 621,497 passenger cars. The production of passenger cars took a bit of a nosedive, dropping by 4 percent when stacked up against the same time last year. However, during the same stretch last year, Iran's state-run car manufacturers rolled out 647,979 passenger vehicles.
