BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) has seen a 2 percent increase in its cathode copper production during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024. through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024), Trend reports via the company.
The company's cathode copper production reached approximately 243,000 tons in this period. During the same period last year, the company produced around 238,000 tons.
The NICICO aims to reach a production capacity of one million tons of cathode copper annually.
To note, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company produced 252 million tons of copper mineral during the ten months of the current year, marking a growth of eight percent from the same period of last year.
Furthermore, NICICO produced more than 50 million tons of sulfur stone in the reporting period, up seven percent from the same period last Iranian year.
The data of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company shows that copper reserves in the country amount to 19 billion tons. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
