The increasing trend of Iran’s agricultural products’ export has continued in the fifth calendar month of the current fiscal year (started March 20), according to the latest monthly report released by the country’s Trade Promotion Organization.
The country exported 2.035 million tons of agricultural products in the first five months of the current fiscal year (March 20-August 22), with 341,000 tons exported in the fifth calendar month (July 22-August 22).
The figure indicates a significant rise by 45 percent in terms of volume compared to the first five months of the last fiscal year.
The value of the exported agricultural products was $1.37 billion in the 5-month period, 39 percent more year-on-year.
Iran exported $635 million worth of various fruits, 17 percent more year-on-year, according to the report.
Iran also exported $405 million worth of fertilizers in the first five months of the current fiscal year, registering a 53-percent growth compared to the similar months of the preceding year.
The industry sector products had the largest share among Iran’s non-oil exports during the 5-month term. The Islamic Republic exported $9.25 billion worth of industrial products during the period, 25 percent more year-on-year.
The Islamic Republic exported 19.45 million tons of industrial products, indicating a rise by 15 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.
The mining sector registered highest fall among the sub-sectors of Iran’s non-oil economy in the current fiscal year in terms of value of exports. Iran exported $547 million worth of mineral products during the 5-month period, registering a 31 percent decrease year-on-year.
In the meantime, the volume of the exports (9.4 million tons) was 18 percent less compared to the same period of the preceding year.
The petrochemical products ranked second among Iran’s non-oil exports in the period. During the 5-month period, Iran’s petrochemical exports increased by 20 percent to $5.85 billion.
Meanwhile the volume of petrochemical exports registered a rise by 8 percent to 4.2 million tons in the same span of time.
In the 5-month period, Iran’s total non-oil exports, which include gas condensate as well, stood at $19.32 billion, which indicates a 14 percent rise.
