Brother of Georgian President David Saakashvili resigned as director of the Graduate School of Justice. In this regard, he made a special statement.
"Our country has overcome one of the toughest stages on the path to democracy, which has earned the recognition of the international community, through the holding of fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power. Mandate, received from the Georgian people places greater responsibility on us - the people who have served Georgia in recent years," the statement said.
David Saakashvili noted that the reforms must continue in all areas, especially in the judiciary, which is one of the most important indicators of the country.
"I, as well as the population of our country, hope that the court will be staffed by independent, impartial and worthy judges. Judicial selection and preparation should be the primary responsibility of the Graduate School of Justice, which has prepared many of the Georgian court professionals over the years. I have been leading this school since 2000 and today decided to request the President of the Supreme Court with a statement of resignation," the statement said.
Saakashvili said he hopes his decision will help the new government to improve and even better functioning of the judicial system.
