BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. There have been very positive dynamics and a revitalization of the dialogue between Azerbaijan and the EU since the beginning of 2025, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna, Trend reports.
“During today’s talks, we discussed relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union in the context of the formation of the new European Commission. We are witnessing an active and positive process in the Azerbaijan-EU dialogue since the beginning of 2025, which greatly pleases us,” Bayramov said.
The minister indicated that in the preceding months, multiple senior EU representatives have conducted visits to Azerbaijan, convening with Azerbaijani ministers and participating in dialogues spanning diverse domains of collaboration.
To note, the European Union's relationship with Azerbaijan is founded on the EU-Azerbaijan Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which has been in effect since 1999. In February 2017, the EU and Azerbaijan commenced discussions on a new framework agreement aimed at strengthening political dialogue, commerce, and mutually advantageous cooperation. Azerbaijan serves as a critical energy ally for the EU and is crucial in delivering Caspian energy resources to the EU market. In 2018, the EU and Azerbaijan ratified collaborative partnership principles, aligned with the four Eastern Partnership principles that direct our political communication and collaboration.
