Azerbaijani Women Are Active Members of Society: Vice Speaker

Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 March /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Currently there are no obstacles for women in Azerbaijan regarding their integration into society and taking on a lasting position within it. "The State departments of Azerbaijan are carrying out significant work to protect the rights of women not only in society, but also within the family," the Vice Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament, Bahar Muradova, stated during the parliamentary hearings 'legal aspects of protection from violence in family relations'.

Azerbaijan joined the international convention on the elimination of violence against women and created its national legislation base.

According to the Vice Speaker, as a result, women in Azerbaijan have gained an opportunity to be represented within society and ensured of equal rights with men. Azerbaijani women have transformed into active members of society.

Muradova said that women who became refugees and internally displaced as a result of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, have faced violence and obstacles.
