BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 20. On November 20, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys will participate in the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting in Brussels, Trend reports.

Together with other EU foreign ministers, he will examine the situation in Ukraine, the hybrid pressures directed at Lithuania, and the EU’s sanctions policy toward the states involved, Trend reports via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

The ministers are set to review collective security commitments and ongoing support for Ukraine, with Minister Budrys expected to advocate for robust backing of Ukraine’s independence.

He will further promote the adoption of additional restrictive measures, including preparations for a new sanctions package, efforts to combat illicit maritime activities, and the acceleration of Ukraine’s EU accession process. Emphasis will also be placed on enhancing financial, military, and energy-sector support for Ukraine.

Budrys will brief EU counterparts on recent hybrid activities targeting Lithuania, including contraband balloon incursions, urging the EU to coordinate its response and consider additional sanctions.

The Council will additionally address developments in the Middle East, Sudan, and the Sahel region. EU foreign ministers are also scheduled to meet with their ASEAN counterparts to discuss EU-ASEAN relations and cooperation in the areas of security and resilience.
