The unemployment rate in Turkey has increased by 0.8 percentage points (by 330,000 people) and reached 10.2 percent in May 2017, as compared to May 2016, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a message published on its website, Aug. 15.
As of late May 2017, 3.225 million people in the country were considered to be unemployed.
Unemployment rate in non-agricultural sectors increased by 0.9 percentage points, up to 12.2 percent, said the message.
The rate of unemployment among people aged 15-24 reached 2.4 percent (increase of 19.8 percentage points). Meanwhile, the same rate among people aged 15-64 was registered at 0.8 percent (increase of 10.4 percentage points).
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s data for 2016, country’s unemployment rate was 10.6 percent, which is 0.6 percent more than in 2015.
