The number of Azerbaijani banks to strive to launch non-cash payments on MasterCard cards through NFC technology will increase in 2021, Erdem Chakar, MasterCard Country Manager for Azerbaijan, told Trend.
According to Chakar, the company expects significant growth in the transition to contactless payments, which will largely link them to NFC technology.
“NFC payments with Mastercard is already live with Kapitalbank. We as Mastercard have launched a joint campaign to promote NFC payment with Android smartphones,” said the manager.
“Mastercard cardholders will receive cashback worth 10 manat ($5.8) in total when they register their debit or credit cards from Kapital Bank to the BirBank mobile app and make NFC payments. A cardholder receives cashback of 1 manat (58 cents) for each of its first 5 NFC transactions, that is, more than 5 manat ($2.9), as well as receives a bonus of 5 manat ($2.9) in 5th transaction,” Chakar said.
Only Mastercard and Maestro cardholders can benefit from this opportunity.
