BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee has particular objectives for the coming years to identify counterfeit goods and restrict their importation into the country, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Shahin Baghirov said within Trend News Agency's "Relevant with Sahil Karimli" project.
"The detection and prevention of counterfeit goods entering the country is a top concern. Every product sold through the country's trade networks must adhere to the necessary standards and trademarks. In this regard, customs authorities have implemented a mechanism for maintaining a suitable register. Owners of goods can be confident that their products are reliably protected once they are enrolled in this registry. If we discover counterfeit items, we take fast action to remove them from the market. We are still actively working in this area, and we have clear plans for the following years," he said.
Shahin Baghirov also mentioned that customs activities in fighting smugglers have a broad scope as well.
"This year, over 1,500 offenses have been solved, which is much more than last year. We prohibit all smuggling attempts, boosting the effectiveness of our law enforcement efforts and lowering the potential of smuggling in any form entering the country's economy. I would like to highlight once more that smuggling attempts continue to occur, which is not a favorable feature. As a result, we are doing more instructional work. In any case, Azerbaijan has a strong enough law enforcement system and competent tools to provide stable economic circumstances while also uncovering facts of unlawful operations," he said.
