Turkmenistan's transport sector sees sustained growth in 7M2024

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 3. The transport sector of Turkmenistan has achieved an overall growth rate of 118.1 percent from January through July 2024, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Mammethan Chakyev reported during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting, Trend reports.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the performance of the transport and communications sector, which demonstrated significant growth across various transportation modes.

Chakyev highlighted that the cargo transportation sector, including road, rail, air, sea, and river transport, saw a growth rate of 103.9 percent, while passenger transportation increased by 103.6 percent.

The growth rate of service provision within the sector also showed positive results, with Turkmenistan Railways achieving 104.8 percent, Turkmen Road Transport reaching 110.9 percent, Turkmenistan Airlines at 153.8 percent, State Service of Maritime and River Transportation at 107.3 percent, and Transport and Communications Agency achieving 113.4 percent growth.

Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for continuous improvement in the sector to meet the challenges of the current environment. He stressed the importance of accelerating cargo and passenger transportation and creating favorable conditions for the further development of international transport and transit communications.
