ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 3. Based on preliminary data from the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, the physical volume index of gross crop production for 2024 stood at 121.1 percent, primarily due to a rise in the total harvest of grain and leguminous crops during the period, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The area of vegetables and melons, root crops, and tuber crops
amounted to 372.100 hectares (98.6 percent of 2023), including
126.100 hectares of open-field vegetables (80.9 percent), 122.600
hectares of potatoes (129.5 percent), and 106.400 hectares of
cotton (91.3 percent).
The area harvested for grains (including rice) and legumes totaled
16.55 million hectares (99.4 percent), oilseeds – 2.74 million
hectares (110.6 percent), and potatoes – 120.200 hectares (129.3
percent). The gross harvest of grains (including rice) and legumes
increased by 47.4 percent compared to 2023, amounting to 25.2
million tons. The gross harvest of oilseeds increased by 52.8
percent and totaled 3.34 million tons. The gross harvest of
vegetables and melons, root crops, and tuber crops grew by 4.2
percent to 10.25 million tons.
The potato harvest increased by 28.7 percent to 2.63 million tons.
Compared to 2023, the yield of grains (including rice) and legumes
increased by 47.6 percent, reaching 15.2 centners per hectare,
while the yield of vegetables and melons, root crops, and tuber
crops increased by 4.6 percent to 272.5 centners per hectare. The
year was also successful for open-field vegetables (growth of 4.5
percent) and sugar beets (growth of 33.9 percent).
To note, 2024 was a successful year for agricultural production in
Kazakhstan, as evidenced by growth in both sown areas and gross
crop yields.
