ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 19. The National Bank
of Kazakhstan has published statistics on international money
transfers, showing a significant increase in February 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from National Bank of Kazakhstan indicates that,
the volume of transfers through international money transfer
systems (IMTS) amounted to 47.6 billion tenge (approximately $90.44
million), with a total of 133,600 transactions. This is an 8
percent increase compared to January 2025, and the number of
transfers grew by 10.8 percent.
Kazakhstani residents primarily use international systems such as Zolotaya Korona, Western Union, MoneyGram, UPT, and others. These transfers are actively used both for domestic transactions within the country and for sending/receiving funds abroad.
Domestic transfers in Kazakhstan make up only 6.7 percent of the total, while transfers abroad account for 93.3 percent. This indicates the large number of Kazakhstanis using IMTS for international transfers.
