BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. Bank deposits and transfers through fast payment systems in Azerbaijan saw a decrease from January through March 2025, with 271,400 transactions totaling 111.5 million manat ($65.5 million).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan indicates that this figure represents a decline of 7.2 percent in transaction volume and a 24.3 percent, or 35.8 million manat ($21 million), decrease in the amount of funds compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, the average transaction amount was 410.9 manat ($241.7) during the reporting period, which is 18.4 percent, or 92.7 manat ($54.5), lower than in the first quarter of 2024.
Furthermore, during the first quarter of this year, 88,600 transactions worth 37 million manat ($21.7 million) were transferred outside of banks using fast payment systems, marking a decrease of 9.7 percent, or 9,500 units, in transaction volume and 11.1 percent, or 4.6 million manat ($2.7 million), in the total amount compared to the same period last year.
The average payment amount for these external transfers was 418 manat ($245.8), showing a 1.5 percent, or 6.3 manat ($3.7), decrease compared to the first quarter of 2024.
