BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. The total deposits of individuals in Azerbaijani banks reached nearly 14.8 billion manat ($8.7 billion) as of May 1, 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) indicates that the volume of deposits decreased by around 221 million manat ($130 million), or 1.5 percent, compared to April 1, 2025, but grew by 1.4 billion manat ($823,500), or 10 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Deposits in the national currency as of May 1, 2025, accounted for nearly 9.9 billion manat ($5.8 billion), showing a monthly decline of about 166.8 million manat ($98.1 million), or 1.7 percent, but an annual increase of over 1 billion manat ($588.2 million), or nearly 11.8 percent.
Foreign currency deposits registered at 4.9 billion manat ($2.8 billion), reflecting a decrement of 54.2 million manat ($31.8 million), equating to a contraction of 1.1 percent from the baseline of April 1, 2025. Conversely, there was an uptick of 305.8 million manat ($179.8 million), translating to an annual growth rate of 6.6 percent relative to the preceding fiscal year.
