BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Iran’s product imports from Kazakhstan declined by 46.1 percent in value and 31.8 percent in weight over four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024).
The data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration shows that Iran imported $11.9 million worth of products, totaling 37,200 tons, from Kazakhstan in the reporting period against 54,500 tons valued at $22.2 million during four months of last year.
The shipment primarily included cereals such as wheat and barley, along with an assortment of machinery and additional goods.
The commerce exchange between Iran and Kazakhstan over the four-month period attained a valuation of $88.7 million and a volume of 155,000 tons, signifying a 27.7 percent downturn in monetary terms and a 25.5 percent decrease in physical weight relative to the corresponding timeframe of the previous year.
It is pertinent to highlight that the data from the Iranian Customs Administration indicates that the total value of product imports into Iran reached $17.6 billion, with a cumulative weight of 12.2 million tons, over the specified four-month period. The import metrics exhibited a contraction of 14.2 percent in monetary valuation and a reduction of 3.23 percent in volumetric weight relative to the corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year.
Iran predominantly concentrates on the procurement of critical commodities requisite for national sustenance while instituting specific regulatory frameworks that curtail the importation of goods analogous to domestically manufactured items.
