The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) advocates for a global initiative to fight cybercrime, the head of the zonal office of the CIS International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Orozobek Kayikov told Trend Dec.17.
This is one of the key questions, and it remains relevant, because it affects the interests of both the ordinary citizens and the regions and countries of the world, according to Kayikov.
This was one of the discussed topics within the ITU conference, which took place October 20 - November 7 in Busan (Republic of Korea). The conference participants considered the Resolution No 130 "Strengthening the role of ITU in building confidence and security while using ICT." It marked the decisions of the ITU bodies, as well as initiatives such as the Global Cybersecurity Program, which says that ITU should continue to pay great attention to this work in accordance with its competence and expertise, he said.
"The resolution addresses the issues of security of citizens, regions, countries and the whole world," said Kayikov. "It is no secret that the problem cannot be solved by the forces of one country, as well as individual regions. Therefore, a global initiative is needed. Despite some nuances in this issue, all countries today advocate for the continuation of the work in terms of joint action against cybercrime."
Previously, the ITU and Azerbaijan held consultations on the preparation of the convention "On cybersecurity." The question was first raised in 2011 within the framework of the visit of ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Toure to Azerbaijan.
The Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov said earlier that the document on cybersecurity of the European Union doesn't have wide coverage, and in this view, it is necessary to solve this problem at the global level.
