Official car dealers sold 46,712 new cars in Kazakhstan in 2016 compared to 97,469 cars in 2015, Kazakhstan’s Auto Business Association reported.
In 2016 the best seller brand for the first time since 2010 was Toyota. As much as 9,059 Toyota cars were sold in Kazakhstan in 2016 compared to 7,232 Toyota cars sold in 2015. In the previous years Russian Lada was the market leader in terms of sales. In 2016 Lada shifted to second place with 8,147 sold cars.
Sales of Lada cars fell by 67 percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
Renault ranked third in terms of sales with 3,772 cars sold in 2016. Meanwhile Renault sales sharply decreased in 2016 compared to 8,234 cars of this brand sold in 2015.
Car sales in Kazakhstan have been decreasing since 2014.
