The European Union is implementing the project entitled "Support for Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan", Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
A workshop dedicated to the methods of controlling pests of plants subject to mandatory quarantine was held in Ashgabat within this project together with the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.
The representatives of the Turkmen State Service on Plant Quarantine, specialists and agronomists of hothouse and horticultural enterprises, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan took part in the event.
The experts from Germany were invited.
"The event is aimed at improving the activity of the Turkmen State Service on Plant Quarantine, as well as assisting Turkmen producers in increasing the production of high-quality environmentally friendly products in the context of implementing the import substitution and export-oriented state programs," the newspaper said.
Turkmenistan grows cotton, wheat, rice and sugar beet.
