The Arvand Free Zone Organization in Iran announced its readiness to establish a joint free trade zone with Iraq.

“The country's basic goods can be provided by presence of investors through such logistic zones,” CEO of Arvand Free Zone Esmaeil Zamani said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“By building the necessary infrastructure, the non-oil exports in the Arvand Free Zone will be increased,” he added.

Referring to the removal the visa fee between the Iran and Iraq he said that the tourists are traveling to Arvand Free Zone and the cities of Abadan and Khorramshahr without visa.

“Arvand river`s dredging can provide a suitable condition for crossing of the commercial vessels and increase the maritime tourism in the region,” said Zamani.

Arvand Free Zone with an area of ​​37,400 hectares in the northwest of the Persian Gulf includes Abadan, Khorramshahr, and Minoo-Shahr (Minoo Island), which is located at the intersection of Arvand and Karoun rivers.

This area is particularly important for Iraq and Kuwait due to its transit capacities such as road, rail, sea and air transport.
