Uzbekistan entered the TOP 3 largest markets for the Russian Lada cars in 2019, Trend reports citing Russian media.
Lada's overseas sales last year grew to around 50,000 cars, a 32 percent increase over 2018. The largest export markets of Lada are Belarus (16,000 cars), Kazakhstan (15,000) and Uzbekistan (6,600).
In two years, sales in Uzbekistan increased 10 times. Russian AvtoVAZ expects to at least maintain market share this year, and the goal is to increase it. Sales will be supported, including for integrating the Niva SUV into the Lada lineup. In December 2019, AvtoVAZ bought a stake from General Motors in the joint venture GM-AvtoVAZ, which produces this SUV.
It was created on the basis of Lada 4x4 (produced by AvtoVAZ) and sold under the name Chevrolet Niva. The model will change the brand from Chevrolet to Lada until the end of 2020. For 11 months of 2019, Niva sales in Russia and the CIS countries amounted to 20,685 units.
Granta became the best-selling car in Lada family in 2019 - 135,831 units were sold in Russia (an increase of 27.8 percent). Sales of the former leader of the Russian brand - Vesta - amounted to 111,459 units (an increase of 2.9 percent).
In August 2019, Uzbeksitan’s UzAuto Motors CIS announced the resumption of deliveries of Ravon cars manufactured by UzAuto Motors to Russia.
Three models are now available on the Russian market - Ravon R4, Ravon R2 and Ravon Nexia R3.
In May 2018, the GM Uzbekistan plant (currently UzAuto Motors) stopped deliveries of Ravon cars to Russia due to a revision of the pricing policy, which was caused by an increase in recycling rates, as well as a large-scale modernization of the enterprise’s production facilities to launch new models.
