Iran has announced a plan to develop greenhouse production in the country, said Habib Radfar deputy minister of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Trend reports citing ministry.
The plan was developed in cooperation with the Keshavarzi Bank of Iran and 32 agricultural departments in the provinces in connection with the preparation and commissioning additional land to increase greenhouse production in the current Iranian year (starting March 20, 2020), said Radfar.
According to Radfar, 2,500 hectares will be commissioned this Iranian year. With the commissioning of this area, 600,000 tons of products are expected to be added to the production of Iranian greenhouses.
Radfar added that it is expected that the commissioning of these greenhouses will provide employment for 100,000 people.
According to reports of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, the agricultural sector of Iran produced 117.7 million tons of products in the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019) in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, animals and fisheries.
