Large increase in grain production is expected in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Director of Agriculture Jihad Mechanization Development Center Kabiz Abbasi said, Trend report citing Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.
According to Abbasi, 90 percent of wheat and barley will be planted mechanically in the current and next Iranian year thanks to the purchase of 53,000 seeders.
Abbasi added that at present, 85 percent of dry farming land wheat cultivation in Iran and 73 percent of ordinary wheat cultivation is done mechanically.
The official said that a loan of 25 trillion rials (about $595 million) is planned to be issued for the purchase of seeders. The loan allocation is entrusted to agricultural departments in all provinces of Iran and will be provided to farmers without any restrictions.
"These loans are provided at 15-percent interest and the repayment period is 5-7 years," he said.
